Osteopathy is the practice of treating the body as a single unit. This type of alternative medicine looks at healing the body by treating the body as a whole system. Not just the site of injury or dysfunction or pain but how is this affecting the whole system. The belief in Osteopathic therapy is one that the body has the power to heal itself if it can come back to its original form. In Manual Osteopathic therapy we treat the body as a whole entity to help it come back to its true state to feel better. This type of passive therapy can be useful for people of all ages with all types of injuries or pain, from infants to elderly, and is very applicable to athletes for injury rehabilitation.
Osteopathic therapy is a passive and noninvasive process that manipulates the body (joints, spine, muscles, fascia, cranial-sacral, lymphatic system and visceral organs) to help restore structure and function to the body as a whole system. Manual Osteopathic Therapists will look at all of the symptoms the patient presents combined with past history to gain a full understanding of how the body is coping and dealing with any dysfunctions and injuries. As an MOT, we are trained to listen to the patient and their bodies through assessments and examination for movement of structure and function. From this we assemble together all the information from the patient and their body to find solutions and facilitate balance in the bodies systems through gentle non-invasive joint corrections, fascial release techniques, visceral (organ) and cranial (head) manipulations. Manual Osteopathic therapy is appropriate for anyone of any age, from infants to the elderly to athletes.
Osteopathic Therapy can help with a number of different issues. Come and see me if you are experiencing any of the following:
Bones and Joints:
The structure and function of the skeletal systems is assessed and corrected
Muscles andFascia:
The function the musculoskeletal system is assessed and any imbalances and fascail strain patterns addressed to restore function
Viscera:
Organ mobility and motility are assessed as well as any fascial strain patterns are addressed and restored. Most often visceral pain is referred to other areas of the body and presents often as dysfunction in other areas of the body. Restoring balance to Viscera is an important part of health and wellbeing.
Cranial-Sacral:
The cranium and spine hold vital nerve pathways that the body depends on for proper structure and function and overall health and wellbeing. Any dysfunction in this system can create a variety of symptoms and pain throughout the body.
Lymphatic:
Passive lymphatic treatments to encourage the flow of lymph within the body to restate proper fluid flow and healing
